History

Buckeye is a diversified, family owned and privately held company located in Zanesville, Ohio.
Buckeye Supply Company was started in 1929 by B. R. Straker as a supplier of oil and gas well equipment to producers spanning the Ohio and Appalachian region. Over the years, store growth spread to Kansas, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York. Around the mid 1980’s, oil and gas prices hit record lows, forcing the scale back of store locations and the eventual end of Buckeye being an oil and gas equipment supplier. About this same time, Buckeye purchased the assets of the Bucyrus-Erie Well Drill Division and accepted the challenge and opportunity to continue a more than fifty year-old tradition of outstanding performance and low maintenance service to the water and shallow oil well drillers of the world.
With a need for further diversification, Suburban Tractor Company was started in 1986 as a John Deere Agricultural/Lawn & Garden distributor for southeastern Ohio. In 1997, Seth Enterprises Inc. was formed to serve as a “for hire” trucking company. The company currently operates nine trucks with a 48 state operating authority. Today, Buckeye Supply Company provides a threading process to customize steel pipe of various sizes and dimensions for various customers. Buckeye Supply Company also is a supplier of steel water well casing to Ohio water well drillers. Buckeye Drill Company specializes in providing water well drilling parts and remanufacturing/customizing water well cable tool drilling rigs.
The company employs fifty-four associates and operates at two locations within Ohio.
The company has various real estate around the state, some parcels of which are currently for sale and are listed on our website.
